Tacos are a staple in our house. Typically we use a packet of seasoning that you can buy at the grocery store but since we have tons of spices laying around it was easier and cheaper to make our own mix.

The mix can be stored for about six months in an air tight container. The ingredient list below will make about three batches of taco meat.

  • 6 teaspoons chili powder
  • 5 teaspoons paprika
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons cumin
  • 3 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  1. In storage container with tight-fitting lid, combine all ingredients; mix well.  Seal tightly.
  2. Store in cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
  3. When ready to use, combine 2 tablespoons of seasoning mixture with 3/4 cup of water and 1 pound of browned ground beef.
