What is old fashioned eating?
The name of this web site comes from the idea that we want to eat like our grandparents and great-grandparents did. We are not trying to bring back liver and onions or the food they used to eat, but instead the idea that food should be prepared at home from the best ingredients available and enjoyed. Everybody is busy, but why not make eating that one time of day where everybody participates and has fun?
We are not here to pretend that we have a fix to the problems of today’s world by baking a casserole or thowing together a salad , but instead we want to share with you recipes that work for us, recipes that don’t take a lot of time to prepare, and recipes that are just plain good.
Who are these people?
We are actually pretty normal people (if you ask us) that are just trying to find new ways to eat. The funny thing is these “new” ways to eat are just the ways everyone used to eat: at home, around the table and with family.
Generally our focus is on making food that can be enjoyed for several meals, food that we look forward to eating as leftovers and doesn’t take an entire night to do. Occassionally we will make things that are a little more extravagent, but that is what the weekend is for. There is no need to eat out on the weekend when, for half the price, you can create food that is delicious and satisfying.
Where do the recipes come from?
Many of the recipes on this site come from other people with the same passion we have for cooking. Where possible we will try to provide a current link to the recipe on the author’s web site. However, other recipes were found in the public domain and as such we give credit when we can.
If a recipe belongs to you and we have not given proper credit, please let us know and we will work with you to fix the problem.
Can I copy a recipe or a photo?
The recipes that are posted on this web site are generally in the public domain unless otherwise noted. We have tried, where possible, to link to other people’s site. We would appreciate the same. These posts are not just about the recipe but also the story and photos that is involved in making them. Where possible, link to us.
Photos on this web site are copyrighted and the property of the authors. Please do not link directly to the photos but instead put a text link to the recipe on your web site.
